United Redefines Premium Experience with Its New “Elevated” Interior for Boeing 787-9s

United Airlines has taken a bold step to lead the premium experience in international flights. The airline has officially unveiled its new United Elevated interior for its Boeing 787-9 aircraft—a complete overhaul that marks a turning point in the U.S. aviation industry. From private suites featuring Ossetra caviar to complimentary satellite connectivity, the company is doubling down on elevating every detail of the journey.

New United Polaris Studio Suites: Privacy, Luxury, and Technology

The crown jewel of the new interior is the eight United Polaris Studio suites, located in the front row of each business-class section. These luxury cabins, 25% larger than traditional Polaris suites, offer direct aisle access, private doors, an extra seat with a seatbelt, and a wide array of amenities:

Revamped Polaris Business Class: Sliding Doors and 19-inch Screens

The standard Polaris cabins have also been upgraded. All now feature sliding doors, 19-inch 4K OLED screens, full connectivity, and seating options that allow travelers to choose between window or center-facing configurations—ideal for solo travelers, couples, or companions.

Additionally, United’s iconic dessert cart has been updated with new Tillamook ice cream flavors and rotating toppings throughout the year, while keeping the classic vanilla bean as a favorite.

More Premium Space: Total Seat Configuration
The Boeing 787-9 with the Elevated interior will offer the highest proportion of premium seats among U.S. airlines, with a new layout:

By comparison, United’s current 787-9s feature 48 Polaris seats, 21 Premium Plus, 39 Economy Plus, and 149 Economy seats.

United Premium Plus and Economy: Unprecedented Upgrades

Premium Plus hasn’t been left behind. It now includes 16-inch 4K OLED screens, wireless chargers, high-quality materials, quartz cocktail tables, and privacy dividers with reading lights.

Meanwhile, Economy Plus and Economy passengers will enjoy 13-inch 4K OLED screens—the largest in the world for economy class—Bluetooth connectivity on all seats, and six power outlets per row. The new design also features ergonomic seats with sliding bases for added comfort when reclining.

Global Connectivity with Starlink

United will be the first U.S. airline to offer complimentary Starlink connectivity for MileagePlus members on its wide-body aircraft, enabling fast and stable internet access even over oceans, polar regions, and remote areas.

Multi-Million-Dollar Investment in In-Flight Dining

With over $150 million invested in 2025 in its food and beverage program, United has significantly elevated its culinary offerings. Customer satisfaction alone rose by 12% in the first quarter of the year. Highlights include:

The airline has also revamped its onboard tableware, featuring new glassware, cutlery, linens, and condiments like red pepper flakes.

When Does This Experience Take Off?

The first Boeing 787-9 with the Elevated interior will arrive before the end of 2025, with initial routes from San Francisco to Singapore and London in 2026. United expects to add approximately 30 aircraft with this configuration to its fleet by 2027.

With flights to 147 international destinations and leadership in transatlantic and transpacific routes, United solidifies its position as a pioneer in the new era of premium travel.
