WestJet has taken a significant step toward strengthening its transatlantic network by announcing a major expansion of its codeshare agreements with European carriers Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. This enhancement will allow Canadian travelers to access 59 destinations in Europe this summer with a streamlined and more connected experience, all through a single booking.
Seamless and Direct Connections
Thanks to these expanded agreements, passengers flying with WestJet can now connect through Amsterdam-Schiphol and Paris-Charles de Gaulle international airports to a wide range of European cities without the need for multiple tickets or complicated baggage transfers. The entire journey—including connecting flights operated by Air France or KLM—can be managed under a single reservation, with WestJet Rewards points accumulated from start to finish.
Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet’s Director of Airport Affairs and Alliances, emphasized: “As part of our commitment to taking Canadians where they want to travel, these expanded partnerships provide our guests with more options to explore 59 coveted European destinations this summer.”

Atlantic Canada: The New Key Gateway for Crossing the Atlantic
The greatest impact will be felt by travelers departing from or connecting through Halifax and St. John’s. This region is now a key gateway for flying to Europe without unnecessary layovers, reducing wait times and improving the travel experience.
WestJet’s new route from Halifax to Amsterdam is particularly noteworthy. From there, passengers will have access to 14 destinations within KLM’s European network:
- Belgium: Brussels
- Czech Republic: Prague
- Finland: Helsinki
- France: Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Paris-CDG, Rennes, Toulouse
- Italy: Bologna, Florence, Milan-Linate
- Portugal: Lisbon, Porto
Paris Opens More Doors for Western Canada
WestJet is also extending the benefits of its collaboration with Air France to travelers from Calgary. From this hub, as well as Halifax and St. John’s, passengers can connect via Paris-Charles de Gaulle to four additional strategic destinations:
- Romania: Bucharest
- Hungary: Budapest
- Czech Republic: Prague
- Italy: Bologna
The promise is clear: more destinations, fewer complications. The synergy between WestJet, Air France, and KLM not only broadens the offering but also redefines the experience for Canadian travelers looking to explore Europe.
