Arajet Inaugurates Flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico

Arajet, the Dominican ultra-low-cost airline, has officially inaugurated its direct route between Santo Domingo and San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking a new milestone in its ambitious expansion across the Americas. The inaugural flight took off this Wednesday at 12:20 p.m. from Las Américas International Airport and landed 40 minutes later in the Puerto Rican capital.

This service, which will operate four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—aims to facilitate travel between the two destinations and strengthen economic, tourism, and cultural ties. Additionally, starting June 6, Arajet will connect Punta Cana directly to San Juan with three weekly flights, increasing to four as of July 1.

The inaugural flight was attended by the Dominican Republic’s Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and Arajet’s CEO and founder, Víctor Pacheco Méndez. Together, they raised the Dominican and Puerto Rican flags as a symbol of the strengthening of this new regional route. According to Pacheco, “This first flight to San Juan is a joyous occasion, marking the beginning of our commitment to the people of Puerto Rico to offer efficient and more affordable travel options.”

Arajet Lands in Orlando: Direct Flights from Punta Cana Starting in October

Impact in Numbers: Thousands of Seats Available

By 2025, Arajet projects over 88,000 seats will be available on these new routes—a significant figure reflecting high demand since the announcement in February. A considerable percentage of these seats were sold within the first 48 hours of sales opening, demonstrating strong public interest in this new connection.

Gateway from San Juan to 11 Destinations

Arajet’s arrival in San Juan is more than just a new route: it’s a gateway. Through its hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, the airline will enable Puerto Rican travelers to connect to destinations such as Aruba, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.

These connections are designed to optimize travel times and reduce costs, aligning with the efficiency and operational safety model that has defined Arajet since its founding.

On Course for a Network of 28 Destinations

Arajet continues its expansion with a clear goal: to close 2025 with 28 destinations across 17 countries and over 250 connections throughout North, Central, and South America. This strategy not only positions the airline as a key player in regional aviation but also strengthens the Dominican Republic’s role as a continental connectivity hub.
