China Airlines announced this Monday a new partnership with Southwest Airlines. This strategic cooperation will allow travelers to fly nonstop from Taiwan to the U.S. West Coast and continue seamlessly to more than 30 destinations across the country.
The connection network will be established at four key airports: Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, and Seattle. These hubs will serve as smooth transfer points between China Airlines’ trans-Pacific flights and Southwest’s extensive domestic network, which covers nearly the entire United States.
Southwest: The Ideal Partner to Capture the U.S. Market
With the fourth-largest fleet in the world and a leading position in U.S. domestic flight frequency, Southwest Airlines emerges as the ideal partner for China Airlines. This alliance marks a milestone: it is the first time Southwest has partnered with an Asian airline.
The synergy combines China Airlines’ long-haul capabilities with Southwest’s domestic reach, providing global travelers easy access to cities such as Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Atlanta, and Chicago. Even popular tourist destinations like Florida are included.

Enhanced Efficiency and Comfort for Passengers
China Airlines has focused on improving the efficiency and quality of its connection services. Thanks to this new agreement, passengers can now book combined itineraries directly through China Airlines’ website or via travel agencies. Additionally, they will enjoy benefits such as single check-in and baggage checked through to their final destination.
This interline service between the two carriers will optimize connection times and offer greater convenience, especially for those traveling for business or leisure to multiple destinations within the United States.
Strategic Expansion of China Airlines’ Network
To date, China Airlines has operated flights to North American destinations including Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and Vancouver. By integrating Southwest’s connection system, the Taiwanese airline significantly expands its coverage to the central and eastern U.S., offering a more robust portfolio of destinations for all types of itineraries.
