Delta Bets Big on Seattle: New International Routes and Two VIP Lounges

Delta Air Lines is strengthening its presence in the U.S. Northwest with a strategic expansion at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Starting in the summer of 2026, the airline will launch direct flights to two iconic European cities: Rome and Barcelona. These new services coincide with the opening of two premium spaces that redefine the traveler experience: the exclusive Delta One Lounge and a new Delta Sky Club, both housed in a 24,000-square-foot joint facility inspired by the essence of Seattle.

New Routes to Europe: Rome and Barcelona Closer to Seattle

Delta will introduce direct service from Seattle to Rome four times a week and to Barcelona three times a week. Both routes will be operated with state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, featuring premium cabin experiences like Delta One and Delta Premium Select.

Delta One passengers will enjoy lie-flat seats with full-height privacy doors, direct aisle access, and a curated dining experience designed to elevate every journey, featuring gourmet dishes and premium wines. Meanwhile, Delta Premium Select offers extra space, adjustable footrests, enhanced menus, and amenity kits for a more comfortable and sophisticated trip.

Seattle: A Key Hub in Delta’s Global Network

With these additions, Delta expands its global footprint from Seattle, a market where it has launched 28 new routes over the past decade. Today, the airline operates nearly 180 daily peak departures to over 60 global destinations. Through strategic alliances, customers also gain access to hundreds of additional connections across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

“Delta is deeply committed to Seattle, from our people on the ground to our global ambitions in the sky,” said Glen Hauenstein, President of Delta Air Lines. “With new international services and the opening of our Delta One Lounge, we’re investing in what our customers value most: exceptional premium experiences.”

A New Era of Luxury and Design on the Ground

The new lounge complex, located near Gate A11 at SEA, redefines airport comfort. For the first time, Delta is opening two lounges in an interconnected, two-level space featuring panoramic mountain views and a design that pays homage to the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty.

Delta One Lounge: Exclusivity with Views of Mount Rainier

The upper level houses the Delta One Lounge, an exclusive experience accommodating 149 guests indoors and 72 on a wraparound terrace with privileged views of the iconic Mount Rainier. This is the fourth Delta One Lounge opened in the past year.

Delta One customers departing from SEA will enjoy concierge-style check-in, adding to similar experiences at airports like Boston, New York (JFK), and Los Angeles, with plans to expand to all Delta hubs.

Delta Sky Club: Comfort and Locally Inspired Design

On the lower level, the new Delta Sky Club accommodates 183 travelers, offering a bright, airy space with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the region’s forests and mountain ranges. This is the third Sky Club opened in the past year, bringing Delta’s total lounge count to 57.

Starting today, June 25, eligible passengers who check in via the Fly Delta app and are enrolled in TSA PreCheck Touchless ID can enjoy a streamlined baggage drop and security process. This feature will be available at all Delta hubs by year-end.

Seattle’s Spirit in Every Detail

The interior design reflects the soul of the Emerald City: rich wood tones, shades of green, navy, rust, and metallic finishes evoke the region’s misty, mountainous aesthetic. Ambient lighting and artwork by local and global artists, such as Pam Kueny Taylor’s “Time to Migrate,” add character to the space.

“Our goal was to create an environment that captures both the aesthetic and soul of Seattle,” explained Claude Roussel, Vice President of Sky Clubs and Lounge Experience. “From locally sourced food to sustainable design, every element reflects the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.”
