Gulf Air, the national airline of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has taken a key step in its international growth plan with the announcement of its new direct route to New York (JFK), marking its return to the North American market. During the initial phase, flights will depart from Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport. However, Gulf Air plans to relocate its operations to the airport’s new Terminal 1 in June 2026—a more modern facility that will further enhance the travel experience for its passengers.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, emphasized the significance of the announcement: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our direct flights to JFK and our return to the North American market. This service aligns with Gulf Air’s calibrated expansion strategy and our goal of serving strategic markets, offering passengers more travel options and convenience through Bahrain International Airport, connecting Bahrain with North America and beyond. This supports the Kingdom’s connectivity strategy.”

The new route strengthens economic and cultural ties between Bahrain and the United States, positioning Gulf Air as a competitive player in long-haul routes with a focus on high-quality service and global connectivity.
