Edelweiss to Receive Its First Airbus A320neo in 2026
Edelweiss announced on Tuesday the expansion of its short-haul fleet to a total of 16 aircraft. This growth is being realized through the addition of two aircraft from Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS).
An Airbus A320 (registration HB-JLQ) will be integrated in October 2025, followed by the first Airbus A320neo (registration HB-JDB) in April 2026.
The arrival of the A320neo positions Edelweiss on a path toward modernization and efficiency. This aircraft is the successor to the classic Airbus A320 and is equipped with technology that reduces fuel consumption by at least 15% compared to its predecessor.

Furthermore, the model significantly decreases emissions and noise levels. This not only improves its environmental footprint but also opens the door to more versatile use on longer-range routes.
Edelweiss CEO Bernd Bauer emphasized the importance of this step: “I am delighted that Edelweiss continues to develop its short- and medium-haul route network and that we are taking a key step toward modernizing our fleet with our first Airbus A320neo. The aircraft combines state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly technology with greater comfort for our passengers.”
With this expansion, Edelweiss strengthens its position at its Zurich hub and ensures sustainable growth, aligning with the global aviation trend toward efficiency and emission reduction.
