WestJet has announced the addition of Puerto Escondido to its route network for the first time, offering travelers direct access from Calgary to one of the most attractive destinations on the coast of Oaxaca. The new seasonal service will begin on December 12, 2025, operating weekly throughout the winter season.
The flight will depart Calgary at 08:55, arriving in Puerto Escondido at 15:44 (local time). The return flight will take off from Mexico at 16:45, landing in Canada at 21:46 (local time).
WestJet’s Commitment to Mexico
With this new route, the airline will offer 15 non-stop connections between Calgary and Mexican destinations during the winter, solidifying its position as Canada’s leading carrier to the country.
In 2025, WestJet had already expanded its presence in Mexico with the launch of routes to Guadalajara, Tepic (Riviera Nayarit), and Cozumel, in addition to strengthening its service to Mexico City, which now operates year-round.

More Options and Increased Capacity
The company estimates that, thanks to this growth, it will offer its most robust Mexico program to date, increasing seat capacity to sun destinations by 8% compared to the previous winter.
Travelers will have access not only to direct flights but also to vacation packages through Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations, broadening travel alternatives with competitive fares and greater flexibility.
A Destination That Has It All
“Bringing this hidden gem into the WestJet network is another way we’re delivering on our promise to offer Canadians more unforgettable and accessible getaways,” said John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of the airline.
Puerto Escondido stands out as an ideal option for those looking to escape the Canadian winter: pristine beaches, authentic cuisine, world-class surfing, and the festive spirit that characterizes Mexico.
