Air Europa has added the second Boeing 737 MAX 8 to its fleet, solidifying its position as the first Spanish airline to operate this model. With this addition, the airline continues to modernize its short- and medium-haul aircraft, committing to efficiency and innovation in a key segment of air transport.
A Strategic Agreement with AerCap
This aircraft is the second of those ordered from AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft lessor, with whom Air Europa maintains a close relationship. The plan includes the arrival of two additional units before the end of this year, followed by ten more in 2026, reaching a total of twenty aircraft by mid-2028.

Short- and Medium-Haul Routes
The new 737-8s have begun operating continental medium-haul routes and will eventually also cover domestic short-haul connections. This strategy is part of Air Europa’s fleet renewal process, which for years has maintained an operation unified exclusively with Boeing aircraft.
Efficiency and Sustainability: A Qualitative Leap
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 features optimized aerodynamics and two LEAP-1B engines that enable a range of up to 3,500 miles. This performance, combined with advanced flight planning systems, allows for a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and avoids the emission of 3.6 million tons of CO₂ annually.
These advancements support the company’s goal of reducing its emissions by 30% by 2030 compared to 2015 levels, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Enhanced Comfort for Passengers
Beyond efficiency, the 737 MAX 8 offers a renewed experience for the 189 passengers it can carry. With 90% reusable materials, lighter seats, and a design focused on comfort, the aircraft features windows that are 20% larger, dynamic LED lighting, and overhead compartments with increased capacity, enhancing the sense of space and comfort on board.
