Avelo Airlines Orders Up to 100 Embraer E195-E2, Becomes First U.S. Operator of Model

Avelo Airlines has announced a firm order for 50 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional 50. The deal, valued at $4.4 billion at list price, marks a key step in the airline’s strategy to offer more accessible and convenient flights within the United States. Deliveries will begin in the first half of 2027.

This agreement makes Avelo the first U.S. airline to operate Embraer’s largest and most advanced model, representing a milestone for the E2 program, the flagship of the Brazilian manufacturer.

Fleet Modernization and New Market Opportunities

The new E195-E2 aircraft will not immediately replace the existing fleet but will complement the Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft currently operated by the company. This combination will allow Avelo to improve cost efficiency and expand its network reach in a highly competitive market.

One of the most notable advantages of the E2 is its performance at short-runway airports, thanks to the exclusive E2TS (Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System) technology. This capability will open access to new routes and enhance operations at bases where Avelo already has a presence.

Benefits in Fuel Consumption, Noise, and Passenger Comfort

The E195-E2 has been designed with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. Its low fuel consumption and reduced noise levels make it an ideal aircraft for responsible growth.

In the cabin, customers will enjoy an enhanced experience with 2×2 seating, power ports at every seat, large overhead compartments, and a quiet environment that elevates comfort on domestic flights.

Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, stated: “We are thrilled to partner with Embraer and bring this next-generation narrowbody aircraft to the U.S. market. Our customers will enjoy the comfort of the E2, while its performance and efficiency make it the perfect choice for the future growth of our scheduled flight network. The U.S. airline industry is evolving, and the E2 fits perfectly with our vision of Avelo’s unique role in that transformation.”

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, said: “The E195-E2 is a game-changer for airlines looking to grow profitably while enhancing the passenger experience. Its fuel efficiency, quiet operations, and short-runway capability will open new markets and optimize Avelo’s network—all with a cabin that truly delights travelers.”

An Order That Redefines Avelo’s Future

The incorporation of the Embraer E195-E2 not only represents the expansion of a young, growing airline but also endorses Embraer’s innovation in the U.S. market. With this decision, Avelo positions itself as a key player in the evolution of the U.S. aviation sector, where the balance between operational efficiency, travel experience, and sustainability will be decisive for success.
