Boeing Begins Development of a New Aircraft That Could Succeed 737 Max
Boeing has started preliminary work on a new-generation, single-aisle aircraft that, according to The Wall Street Journal, could become the successor to the 737 Max. The initiative is in an early phase that includes internal designs and exploratory talks with engine manufacturers.
Contacts with Rolls-Royce and New Internal Leadership
This year, the company’s CEO, Kelly Ortberg, met with executives from Rolls-Royce in the UK to discuss the possibility of developing a specific engine for the future model, as reported by sources cited in the newspaper. Furthermore, Boeing appointed a new product leader within its commercial airplanes division, who has prior experience in developing new aircraft.

No Official Confirmation on a Successor
To date, Ortberg has not publicly communicated concrete plans to replace the 737 Max, according to The Wall Street Journal. In response, Boeing stated in a release that it remains focused on its recovery plan.
