TAP Air Portugal has taken a decisive step toward modernizing its fleet with the introduction of the new Airspace cabins, designed to provide greater comfort and optimize onboard space. The first aircraft to feature them is the A321neo “António Sérgio,” the first of twenty planes the company will receive by 2029.
Increased Carry-On Luggage Capacity
One of the most notable improvements is the new XL overhead bins, which offer 37% more volume. This enhancement allows suitcases to be stored vertically, increasing capacity from five to eight bags per bin. Thanks to this redesign, the cabin can store up to 130 pieces of luggage in the A320neo and 194 in the A321neo, reducing the usual stress during boarding.

Adaptable Lighting and Cabin Ambiance
The flight experience is further enhanced by a customizable LED lighting system that can be adjusted to different phases of the journey. This feature not only increases passenger well-being but also helps create a more pleasant and modern atmosphere throughout the flight.
Connectivity and Accessibility at Every Seat
All seats in the new A321neo are equipped with USB-A and USB-C ports, making it easy to charge mobile devices. In addition, larger restrooms with Braille signage demonstrate a clear commitment to accessibility, ensuring an inclusive experience for passengers with visual impairments.
Expanding Fleet Through 2029
The Portuguese company plans to incorporate 20 aircraft with Airspace cabins: 10 A320neo and 10 A321neo. The latter model can accommodate 221 passengers, distributed across 102 seats in Business/Economy Extra and 119 in Economy, reinforcing TAP’s strategy of offering greater comfort without compromising efficiency.
