Air Canada has revealed one of its largest expansions at Billy Bishop Toronto Airport, introducing new cross-border routes to four key destinations in the United States and increasing frequencies on domestic flights to Montreal and Ottawa. With this move, the airline strengthens its presence in Canada’s financial heart and significantly enhances the travel experience for its customers.
New U.S. Routes from Toronto Island
Starting in spring 2026, Air Canada will launch non-stop flights from Toronto Island to New York (LaGuardia), Boston (Logan International), Chicago (O’Hare), and Washington (Dulles).
- New York (LaGuardia): Begins March 29, 2026, with four daily flights.
- Chicago and Washington: Start June 1, 2026, with two daily flights between each city.
- Boston: Available from July 1, 2026, with three daily frequencies.
These operations will be carried out by Jazz Aviation LP, Air Canada’s regional partner, under the Air Canada Express brand, using De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft with a capacity for 78 passengers.

The launch of cross-border services will coincide with the implementation of U.S. customs preclearance at the island airport. This will allow travelers to complete customs procedures before takeoff, streamlining arrival at U.S. airports.
Increase in Domestic Flights
Beginning in January 2026, Air Canada will also expand its service on the country’s busiest corridor. Flights between Toronto Island and Montreal will increase from eight to nine daily frequencies, while the route to Ottawa will increase from four to six round-trip flights.
This reinforcement responds to strong demand from the corporate market and solidifies Billy Bishop as an efficient alternative for business travelers seeking quick connections between Canada’s major urban centers.
Enhancements to the Passenger Experience
The airline is also raising the service level at the island airport with free and fast onboard Wi-Fi, premium snacks, and complimentary beer and wine, plus exclusive access to the Aspire Air Canada Café for eligible customers on domestic routes.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, highlighted that this is “the company’s most significant expansion at Toronto Island in 35 years.” He added that these new routes “will strengthen connectivity between Canada’s financial capital and key U.S. markets,” and underscored the airline’s commitment to continuously improving the travel experience.
Total Connectivity from the Greater Toronto Area
Air Canada will complement this expansion with its operation at Toronto Pearson International Airport, from where it will offer over 600 daily round-trip flights to 124 destinations in summer 2026.
With this combination of services from both airports, the airline reinforces its position as the preferred choice for business and leisure travelers moving to and from the Greater Toronto Area.
