Air France has announced the temporary suspension of its flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, from October 11 to 13, due to the security situation in the African country.
The French airline explained that the measure was taken “due to the security situation on the ground.” The company stated that it maintains constant monitoring in coordination with the competent authorities.
Daily Situation Assessment
Air France specified that the resumption of operations will be subject to a daily assessment of conditions in Madagascar. Meanwhile, affected passengers will be contacted directly and offered rebooking alternatives or a refund.

The company insisted that its priority is the safety of its customers and crew, emphasizing that all decisions are made in coordination with local and international authorities.
Political Crisis in Madagascar
The airline’s announcement coincides with a tense political context in Madagascar. The country’s Presidency confirmed on Sunday that an attempt at an “illegal and forced seizure of power” was underway, without providing further details.
The statement came one day after some army members joined a protest movement that began last month, which has increased concerns about the country’s internal stability.
