Airlines Schedule Over 33.8 Million Seats at Madrid-Barajas Airport for Winter Season

Airlines have planned nearly 33.9 million seats at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport for the 2025-2026 winter season, which will run from October 26, 2025, to March 28, 2026. This figure represents a 4.6% increase compared to the same period the previous year, solidifying Barajas as the airport with the highest seat capacity in the entire Aena network.

During these months, 78 airlines will operate, connecting Madrid with 207 destinations across 69 countries through a total of 371 routes, which is 25 more than in the previous winter season.

Asia-Pacific and Middle East, the Fastest-Growing Regions

The increase in capacity is particularly concentrated in flights to Asia-Pacific, with a growth of 33.5%, followed by the Middle East (+28.6%), Latin America (+10.5%), and Europe (+8.7%).

By country, the most notable increases are recorded in the United Kingdom (10.6%), Portugal (7.7%), Colombia (5.7%), and Italy (5.4%), all of which are strategic markets with high passenger demand.

Over 167,000 Scheduled Movements

The Madrid airport also records a strong boost in the number of scheduled movements, exceeding 167,000 flights for this season, a 4.4% increase compared to the previous winter.

In regional terms, operations with the Middle East grew by 31.2%, Asia-Pacific by 28.6%, North America by 14.5%, and Latin America by 8.9%.

Among the countries with the highest increase in operations, the United States (+13%), the United Kingdom (+12.6%), and the Netherlands (+7.3%) stand out, reflecting the dynamism of the airport’s intercontinental connectivity.

A Record Winter for Spain’s Main Hub

With these figures, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport reaffirms its position as Spain’s main air hub and one of the most significant in Europe. The diversification of destinations and the sustained increase in capacity demonstrate the recovery of air traffic and the confidence of airlines in the Spanish capital as a global connecting center.
