Alaska Airlines Strengthens Presence in San Diego, Portland, and Hawaii with 13 New Routes

Alaska Airlines announced a significant expansion of its route network for the spring of 2026, adding 13 new non-stop flights and two new destinations: Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Arcata-Eureka, California. These new services bolster the airline’s presence at its key hubs in San Diego and Portland, strengthen its commitment to Hawaii, and solidify its leadership in Santa Rosa-Sonoma, the heart of California’s wine country.

With this expansion, Alaska Air Group will reach 142 destinations in 2026, the highest number in its history. Furthermore, with the addition of Arcata-Eureka, the airline will become the company serving the most year-round airports in California.

San Diego: The Fastest-Growing Hub

San Diego is solidifying its position as Alaska Airlines’ fastest-expanding market. In spring 2026, the airline will grow by more than 35% compared to the same period the previous year. From this airport, it will add five new non-stop routes to: Dallas-Fort Worth, Oakland, Raleigh-Durham, Santa Barbara, and Tulsa.

With these additions, Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines will offer direct flights to the 15 most popular destinations from San Diego, reaching a total of 49 non-stop connections.

Passengers from Santa Barbara will be able to make a quick connection in San Diego before continuing to other cities like Boston or Honolulu. Additionally, the San Diego–Santa Rosa-Sonoma route will now have three daily flights, offering more schedule options than any other airline.

Portland Expands National Connectivity

From Portland, the company will add four new destinations starting in May 2026: Baltimore, Idaho Falls, Philadelphia, and St. Louis.

With these flights, Alaska will serve 62 non-stop destinations from Portland, reinforcing its presence at one of its most strategic bases. A second daily flight to Newark (EWR) will also be added, the Portland–Līhu’e (Kaua’i) service will be expanded to year-round operation, and daily frequencies to Santa Rosa-Sonoma will increase to three flights per day.

Firm Commitment to Hawaii

Alaska Airlines’ connection to the Hawaiian archipelago is growing even stronger. The airline operates more airports between California and Hawaii than any other carrier.

Notable among the new offerings is a new seasonal summer route between Honolulu and Burbank, the first direct connection between these two airports in over 20 years.

Frequencies from the West Coast will also increase:

By early summer, Alaska Airlines will operate daily flights to the four main Hawaiian Islands from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, and Seattle.

Santa Rosa-Sonoma: Leader in the Heart of California’s Wine Country

Alaska Airlines reaffirms its position as the number one airline in Santa Rosa-Sonoma, offering twice as many destinations as any competitor.

In addition to increasing frequencies to Portland and San Diego, the company will launch a new intra-California connection between Santa Rosa-Sonoma and Ontario, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

With this addition, the airline will serve six destinations within California, including seasonal service to Palm Springs, which begins on October 26.

“With bold expansion in San Diego and Portland, more flights to Hawaii, and new routes like Tulsa and Arcata-Eureka, Alaska is redefining the travel experience. Our investment in these markets responds to strong demand driven by the recent launch of Atmos Rewards, the nation’s number one loyalty program. We want to offer our passengers more choices, more rewards, and greater global access than ever before,” said Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning at Alaska Airlines.
