Airbus has announced the launch of the second edition of its documentary series Airbus Original, with a new production titled “A220: The Maverick”. This four-episode docuseries will premiere starting November 24th on YouTube, offering an in-depth look at the revolutionary A220 single-aisle aircraft.
Episode 1: “Designed to redefine” – The Origins in Mirabel
The first installment takes us to Mirabel, Canada, where the A220 was born. Jean-François Parent, Chief Engineer of the program, guides the viewer through the design process that brought to life a compact aircraft with the features of a wide-body jet. The episode highlights how clean-sheet innovation made the A220 a true pioneer in the skies.
Episode 2: “Closer than ever” – The Impact in Australia
In the second chapter, the focus shifts to QantasLink. Rachel Yangoyan, Chief Executive Officer, together with Bill Osmond, Executive Manager of Fleet Strategy, Planning and Investment at Qantas, explain how the A220 has been key to connecting regional communities with major Australian cities. Their testimony reveals the aircraft’s strategic role in fleet renewal and enhancing domestic connectivity.

The series concludes with LOT Polish Airlines, which has made a historic decision by introducing the A220 as its first Airbus aircraft. Michał Fijoł, Chief Executive Officer, and Maciej Dziudzik, Chief Financial Officer, share the reasons behind this choice, positioning the A220 as the new face of their next-generation single-aisle fleet.

“A220: The Maverick” is the second production from Airbus Original, following “A330neo: The Heir Apparent”.
