Gulf Air has placed a firm order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with options for three additional units, thereby solidifying its international expansion strategy.
The agreement was signed at the Dubai Airshow by Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air, and Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing.
Khalid Husain Taqi, Chairman of the Gulf Air Group, highlighted that this acquisition represents a significant step forward in the airline’s long-term fleet development. “By confirming the purchase of the Boeing 787 Dreamliners, we are accelerating our strategy to increase capacity, strengthen long-haul operations, and offer a more sustainable and elevated travel experience to our passengers,” he stated.
The partnership between Gulf Air and Boeing, which spans decades, has been key to the growth of the Bahrain-based airline.

Boeing 787 Features: Efficiency and Comfort
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is renowned for its fuel efficiency, operational range, and onboard experience. Gulf Air currently operates 10 units of this model, enabling it to connect over 50 destinations across Asia, Europe, and the United States.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, emphasized that “the 787 is an ideal fit for Gulf Air’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.”
Among its attributes, the 787 features the largest windows in its category, less dry air, and pressurization at a lower altitude for greater comfort, along with technology that detects and counteracts turbulence, providing a smoother flight.

With this fleet expansion, Gulf Air strengthens its position in the international market and commits to more efficient operations focused on passenger well-being. The Boeing 787 is established as the flagship aircraft for the company, aligning with its growth and modernization objectives.
