The Swiss airline Helvetic Airways has announced a new firm order for three Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, along with five additional purchase rights, reinforcing its commitment to modern and sustainable aviation. This acquisition will allow the company to increase its E2 fleet from 12 to a maximum of 20 units in the coming years.
The first E195-E2 will be delivered in late 2026 and will be configured with 134 seats in a single class, equipped with modern Recaro seats that guarantee passenger comfort and efficiency.
Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways, emphasized: “We are proud to deepen our collaboration with Embraer through this new order. The E195-E2 is the ideal aircraft for our network, thanks to its fuel efficiency, low noise emissions, and excellent passenger experience. This decision supports our modern fleet strategy and our sustainability goals, while maintaining operational flexibility in Europe. It will also strengthen our capacity to serve various European customers through our ACMI operations.”
Current Fleet and Notable Operations
Since its first order in 2018, Helvetic has solidified its presence as a key operator of the Embraer E-Jet family. The airline currently operates:
- Eight E190-E2s
- Four E195-E2s
- Four E190s
- Four E195s
The E2 jets are used for scheduled flights, charter services, and wet lease operations. Helvetic was also a pioneer in operating the E190-E2 and E195-E2 models at London City Airport for Swiss International Air Lines, demonstrating these aircraft’s steep approach capability and low noise levels.

The national airline of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has also signed a firm order for four Embraer E175 aircraft, with eight additional purchase rights, as part of its fleet modernization and regional expansion strategy. The aircraft will be configured with 76 seats distributed in two classes: 12 in Business and 64 in Economy.
The delivery of the first E175 is scheduled for the first half of 2027, and the agreement will be incorporated into Embraer’s backlog in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Optimizing Connectivity and Operational Efficiency
Air Côte d’Ivoire plans to use the E175s on domestic and regional routes, aiming to expand its network, improve connectivity, and gradually replace its turboprop fleet. The model was selected for its greater range, speed, passenger comfort, and superior cargo capacity compared to turboprops, making it the ideal choice for the airline’s evolving operations.
Laurent Loukou, CEO of Air Côte d’Ivoire, stated: “This order represents a significant step in our fleet development strategy. The Embraer E175 is perfectly suited to our regional and domestic ambitions. Its capacity is ideal for the size of African markets. Its performance and comfort will allow us to offer a superior passenger experience, while supporting our growth and the development of our hub in Abidjan. It also allows us to gradually phase out turboprops and operate more efficiently across our network, improving operational costs and profitability.”
This dual announcement reaffirms Embraer’s position as a key manufacturer in the regional segment, with solutions tailored to the operational needs of European and African airlines.
