Iberia Strengthens Its Presence in Japan with Additional Flights During Cherry Blossom Season

Iberia announced this Tuesday a special operation that increases its connectivity with Japan during March 2026, coinciding with the iconic sakura season. The Spanish airline will add an extra frequency between Madrid and Tokyo, available from March 4th to 26th, with departures from Madrid on Wednesdays and returns from the Japanese capital on Thursdays. This measure increases the weekly flights to four, up from the usual three frequencies.

Since its landing in Japan in October 2024, Iberia has consolidated this connection as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia. In 2026, the airline will offer more than 110,000 seats on this route, contributing nearly 100 million euros to the GDP of both countries. Furthermore, this operation is estimated to generate around 1,900 direct and indirect jobs.
