Starting March 29, 2026, Iberia will launch a daily flight between Madrid and Newark Liberty International Airport. This new route coincides with the start of the summer season and complements the two daily flights the airline already operates to John F. Kennedy International Airport, thus consolidating three daily frequencies to the New York area.
The addition of Newark is presented as a strategic option that facilitates quick access to Manhattan, expanding alternatives for travelers and enhancing the experience on one of the most relevant destinations for the airline.
Operation Details
The new connection will operate with the following schedules:
- IB327 Madrid -> Newark: Daily departure at 19:35, arrival at 22:25.
- IB328 Newark -> Madrid: Daily departure at 23:55, arrival at 13:20 the following day.
During the 2026 summer season, Iberia will offer more than 350,000 seats between Madrid and New York, representing a 40% increase compared to 2025.
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Network Development, and Alliances Director, highlighted:
“Our new flight to Newark tangibly demonstrates how at Iberia we are materializing our Flight Plan 2030, which outlines the roadmap to establish ourselves as the leader in connectivity between Europe and America. The addition of Newark not only reinforces our presence in New York with a third daily frequency but also expands options for our customers, offering greater flexibility in schedules and fares, and the advantages of multiple frequencies.”
The executive also emphasized that Newark’s proximity to Manhattan makes this option an excellent alternative for the corporate market, while diversification between JFK and Newark allows for optimized operations and better adaptation to market needs.

Iberia in the United States
The company currently offers ten destinations in the United States and reinforces its commitment to this market with the new daily frequency to Newark. During 2025, Iberia made nearly 2 million seats available between Spain and the United States, with an average of 150 weekly flights.
During the winter season, the airline operates:
- Two daily flights to New York and Miami.
- Up to two daily flights to Boston and Puerto Rico, bolstered by the arrival of the Airbus A321XLR.
- Three weekly frequencies to Washington, which transitioned from a summer route to year-round operation.
- One daily flight to Chicago.
- Four weekly frequencies to Dallas Fort Worth and Orlando.
- Three weekly frequencies to Los Angeles.
- San Francisco as a summer route, with three weekly flights from May to September.
Furthermore, Iberia maintains a joint business agreement with American Airlines, British Airways, and Finnair for North Atlantic routes, offering robust connectivity to 400 destinations in over 100 countries.
Flight Plan 2030: Expansion and New Routes
The launch of this third frequency to New York is part of the Flight Plan 2030, which includes a 6 billion euro investment in fleet renewal and expansion, growing from the current 48 long-haul aircraft to 70. The plan also includes service digitalization, improved customer experience, and increased connectivity between Europe and America.
Within this framework, Iberia will inaugurate five new long-haul routes:
- Orlando, starting October 26, with four weekly frequencies.
- Recife, starting December 13, with three weekly flights.
- Fortaleza, starting January 19, also with three weekly frequencies.
- Monterrey, starting June 2, with three weekly flights.
- Toronto, starting June 13, with five weekly frequencies.
Airbus A321XLR, at Forefront of the Expansion
The Newark flight will be operated with the Airbus A321XLR, a model that has transformed transatlantic connectivity thanks to its efficiency and flexibility. Iberia was a launch customer for this aircraft, which enables serving long-haul routes with a single-aisle plane, reducing fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to traditional models.
The new Airspace cabin, with LED lighting and two classes — Business and Tourist — offers a premium experience that reinforces Iberia’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in its operations.
