ITA Airways has inaugurated its new direct route between Rome Fiumicino and Mauritius, marking a milestone in its intercontinental expansion for the 2025-2026 winter season. The inaugural flight landed on Saturday at 11:20 a.m. (local time) at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.
The arrival of the first flight was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local authorities, media representatives, tourism sector stakeholders, and airline executives.
Schedule and Frequencies for the New Service
During the 2025-2026 winter season, ITA Airways will operate two weekly flights on this route:
- From Mauritius: Departures on Mondays and Saturdays at 22:10, arriving at Rome Fiumicino at 06:40 the next day.
- From Italy: Departures on Fridays and Sundays at 22:00, arriving in Mauritius at 11:20 the next day.
Thanks to the Rome Fiumicino hub, passengers will be able to easily connect to other national and international destinations.
Airbus A330-900neo: Comfort and Cutting-Edge Technology
The inaugural flight was operated with the Airbus A330-900neo, equipped with:
- 30 Business Class seats convertible into flat beds
- 24 Premium Economy seats
- 237 Economy seats, including 36 in Comfort Economy
The cabin features elegant interiors, refined lighting, advanced entertainment systems, and full Wi-Fi connectivity, ensuring a superior travel experience. The overnight schedule promotes a more relaxed journey, ideal for families.
ITA Airways’ Global Winter Expansion
With the addition of Mauritius, ITA Airways will reach 53 destinations in its winter network: 16 domestic, 21 international, and 16 intercontinental across America, Africa, and Asia.
Other highlights of the program include:
- Resumption of Rome-Malé (Maldives) service from December 19th with daily frequencies until January 6th, then three weekly flights (four in February) until Easter.
- Increased flights to Bangkok: seven per week starting December 8th.
- Reinforcement of the Buenos Aires route: ten weekly frequencies between December 16th and January 9th.
With this new route, ITA Airways reaffirms its commitment to connecting cultures and offering a travel experience that combines technology, design, and Italian hospitality.
