A strike by the LATAM Airlines Pilots’ Union (SPL) began this Wednesday in Chile and is expected to last for two days, on November 12 and 13. The work stoppage began with canceled flights and others being rescheduled, affecting the airline’s operations in the country.
Measures for Affected Passengers
LATAM Airlines reported that passengers with flights to or from Chile will be contacted directly via email. Furthermore, they recommended checking flight status through the “My Trips” section in their mobile app as a preventive measure.

The company detailed that the cancellations will impact approximately 10% of passengers with origin or destination in Chilean territory. To mitigate the effects, alternatives such as itinerary changes and full refunds have been made available.
Union Rejection and Labor Demands
The SPL called for the strike after rejecting the latest offer presented by the company, with the backing of 97% of its members. According to the union, the mobilization is taking place with “unity and a clear message,” demanding the restoration of pre-2020 working conditions for pilots, as they claim has already been achieved for other groups within the company.
LATAM expects its flight situation to return to normal starting Friday, once the strike has concluded.
