TAP Air Portugal announced the launch of a new air connection between Lisbon and Curitiba, the capital of Brazil’s Paraná state, starting July 2, 2026. This addition reinforces the airline’s leading position on routes between Europe and Brazil, expanding its network to 14 destinations in the South American giant.
Operational Details of the New Route
The new service will include three weekly frequencies—Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday—using Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity for 269 passengers. The itinerary will be Lisbon – Curitiba – Rio de Janeiro – Lisbon, offering direct connectivity between Europe and southern Brazil. Ticket sales will begin on November 11.

Regional and Strategic Impact
The governor of the state of Paraná, Ratinho Junior, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its relevance for local development: “TAP’s new route reinforces Paraná’s leading role on the global stage. This direct link with Portugal from Lisbon will boost tourism, facilitate the arrival of European visitors, and expand business opportunities with Europe.”
For his part, Carlos Antunes, TAP Director for the Americas, emphasized the importance of the Brazilian market for the company’s global strategy: “Brazil is a strategic market of immense relevance to our global operation. With the inauguration of the new route to Curitiba, we are expanding our presence in the country, which already features numerous connections between Brazilian capitals and European cities via Lisbon and Porto.”
With this expansion, TAP Air Portugal reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the historical, cultural, and economic ties between Brazil and Portugal. The airline continues to position itself as the main air bridge between Europe and South America, offering more connectivity, efficiency, and comfort options for Brazilian passengers.
