American Airlines has inaugurated a new seasonal air connection between the United States and Mexico, strengthening its presence in the Mexican Bajío region during the period of peak tourism and family travel demand.
A New Direct Option Between Chicago and Querétaro
The airline began operating the seasonal route between Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and Querétaro, specifically designed for the high holiday season. The service will be available from December 18, 2025, until January 13, 2026, offering a direct alternative for travelers moving between the two regions.
This operation will be carried out using Boeing 737 aircraft, configured with 172 seats, allowing it to meet the additional demand anticipated during the Christmas period.
On the occasion of the launch, José María Giraldo, Managing Director of Operations for Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, and Central America, highlighted the strategic importance of this addition: “As we approach the holiday season, we are very pleased to expand our presence in Querétaro with the launch of new service to Chicago. This addition offers our customers even more comfortable options for traveling to the United States during this very busy period.”
The executive also emphasized the connectivity potential offered by the U.S. departure airport, noting that from Chicago, passengers can connect to over 160 international destinations, supported by more than 465 daily flights during the high season.

Chicago O’Hare, a Key Hub in the American Airlines Network
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport functions as one of American Airlines’ most significant operational hubs. It is the company’s fourth-largest gateway, from which over 465 daily flights are offered during peak hours to more than 160 destinations.
Prominent international routes from this airport include cities such as London, Toronto, and Montreal. During the current year, the airline added over 20 new destinations from O’Hare, in addition to enhancing the onboard experience by incorporating premium cabin offerings on all flights originating from or destined for Chicago.
Strengthening Connectivity Between Mexico and the United States
The opening of this seasonal route between Chicago and Querétaro aligns with American Airlines’ strategy of strengthening its network during periods of high traffic, facilitating international travel, and expanding connection options for passengers traveling from central Mexico to North America and other global markets.
