easyJet is facing the most intense holiday season since its founding, with an unprecedented operation that marks a new milestone for the airline. During the peak Christmas and New Year period, the company will deploy an enhanced schedule across Europe, reflecting sustained demand and the strategic importance of these dates for the air sector.
Over 24,600 Flights and 10% Growth
The airline will operate more than 24,600 flights on its European network, representing a 10% increase compared to the previous Christmas. This growth solidifies easyJet as one of the key players in air traffic during the holidays, in a context where travel for leisure and family gatherings reaches its peak.
In total, the company expects to carry up to 3.5 million passengers throughout this festive period, a figure that highlights the scale of the operation and the reach of its network.
Busiest Days on easyJet’s Network
December 26th and January 2nd are shaping up to be the most demanding days of the Christmas calendar. On each of these days, 1,754 and 1,755 flights will take off respectively, with up to 263,000 customers traveling per day. These operational peaks require precise coordination to ensure punctuality and the onboard experience.
The UK, a Key Market During the Holidays
Within the UK, easyJet expects to carry up to two million passengers, with around 1,000 daily flights during peak demand times. Many travelers will depart from various points across the country to visit family, enjoy sunny destinations, or ring in the New Year in some of Europe’s most iconic cities.

European Destinations Preferred by Passengers
Paris and Milan stand out as the most requested cities during this period. Geneva, considered the gateway to the Alps, is also among the top destinations for those starting the ski season. On domestic routes, Belfast is positioned as the favorite option for stays within the country, especially for visits to friends and family.
Winter Sun and Long-Leisure Routes
The Canary Islands, led by Tenerife and Lanzarote, remain a firm choice for those looking to spend Christmas under the sun. Beyond Europe, Marrakech in Morocco and Hurghada in Egypt attract significant interest. easyJet is the largest operator to North African destinations, with 46 routes to leisure hotspots in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Cape Verde.
Lapland and Northern Lights: Unique Winter Experiences
The airline will also deploy its largest-ever schedule to Lapland, the home of Santa Claus, with a 26% increase compared to last year. Up to 24 weekly flights will operate from eight UK airports, including London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham. London Southend and Belfast International are joining for the first time.
For those chasing the Northern Lights, easyJet offers direct flights from six UK airports to destinations such as Reykjavik and Akureyri in Iceland, as well as Tromsø in Norway, considered among the best spots to observe this natural phenomenon.
easyJet Holidays Also Breaks Records
The easyJet holidays division is heading towards its most active Christmas, with a 19.37% increase in the number of customers traveling during the Christmas week, from December 22nd to 28th, 2025, compared to the previous year. Tenerife leads holiday preference, followed by Lanzarote and the Costa Blanca. For city breaks, Paris, Amsterdam, and Prague top customer choices.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Director, highlighted the significance of these dates for the company, especially in its thirtieth anniversary year. He noted that 3.5 million passengers have chosen to fly and travel with the airline during Christmas, drawn by its network, competitive fares, and the care of its crews. Furthermore, he stated that looking ahead to 2026, the goal will remain to expand options and facilitate the travel experience.
easyJet is currently the largest airline in the UK. It operates at 22 British airports and offers over 640 routes to 140 destinations, connecting the country with Europe and other international markets. This infrastructure explains its ability to handle such a high volume of passengers during the most demanding time of the year.
