ITA Airways to Fly Between Rome and Houston in Summer 2026

ITA Airways confirmed the launch of its first direct flight between Rome Fiumicino and Houston, a route that will mark the beginning of a new stage for the airline in its North American strategy. The service will begin on May 1, 2026, and is already available for purchase through official channels.

Joerg Eberhart, CEO and Managing Director of ITA Airways, welcomed this advancement and highlighted its impact on the intercontinental network. He noted that growth in the United States is one of the company’s pillars and that the new service will help strengthen the Rome hub. He added that the route is part of an international strategy that will culminate with the airline’s entry into Star Alliance in 2026 as part of the integration process into the Lufthansa Group.

Flight Operations and Schedule

The schedule is divided into two phases for the 6 summer season.

Between May 1 and May 31, the company will offer three weekly frequencies on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights will depart from Rome Fiumicino at 10:20 and land at Houston George Bush Intercontinental at 15:40 local time. For the return, aircraft will depart from Houston at 18:10 and arrive in the Italian capital at 11:50 the next day.

From June 1 to October 24, operations will expand to five services per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to a market it considers strategic.
