LATAM Inaugurates Direct Flight Between Recife and Buenos Aires

LATAM Airlines has expanded its international network in Northeast Brazil with the inauguration of a direct route between Recife and Buenos Aires (Ezeiza). Operations began on Saturday, December 20th, responding to the sustained growth in tourist demand between Pernambuco and the Argentine capital. With this new link, the airline strengthens connectivity between Brazil and South America, while also consolidating its presence in a strategic region.

A New Non-Stop Connection

The new route features weekly flights and significantly reduces total travel time by eliminating connections at other Brazilian airports. Operations are conducted using Airbus A320 aircraft, configured to carry up to 176 passengers.

Departures from Recife are scheduled every Saturday at 19:35, while the return flight from Buenos Aires operates on Sundays at 2:00, all times local. The journey has an average duration of 5 hours and 20 minutes.

Impact on Tourism and Regional Economy

For LATAM, this link represents a relevant step in the air integration of the Northeast with the Southern Cone. Eduardo Macedo, Head of Public Affairs for LATAM Brazil, highlighted that the direct connection between Recife and Buenos Aires plays a key role in boosting tourism and contributes to the development of the region’s tourism economy by attracting more visitors from neighboring countries.

From the perspective of airport infrastructure, the concessionaire Aena emphasized the importance of constant investment in its terminals. Santiago Yus, Chairman and CEO of Aena Brasil, noted that the inauguration of this international route at Recife Airport reinforces opportunities for exchange and supports the economic and touristic growth of the Northeast.

Beyond Passenger Transport

The flight’s inauguration brought together state authorities, airline representatives, and Aena officials. Beyond the positive impact on tourism, the route also strengthens logistical connectivity, as it expands possibilities for cargo transport between the Brazilian Northeast and Argentina through LATAM Cargo operations.

Complement to LATAM’s International Network

This new link adds to the international air network that LATAM already maintains between Brazil and Argentina, with direct operations from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Porto Alegre. Simultaneously, it expands Brazilian travelers’ access to the cultural, historical, and gastronomic attractions of Buenos Aires, solidifying Recife’s role as a relevant gateway for international flights in the Northeast.
