Tocumen International Airport continues to strengthen its position as the primary air connectivity hub in Latin America. Between January and November 2025, the Panamanian terminal registered solid growth in passengers, operations, and cargo, confirming its strategic role for regional connectivity, tourism, and international trade.
Sustained Growth in Passenger Traffic
According to official data, Tocumen handled a cumulative total of 19,077,714 passengers between January and November 2025, representing a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This result demonstrates a solid recovery in air traffic and the sustained confidence of airlines and travelers in a platform recognized for its operational efficiency and extensive connection network.
November Confirms Positive Trend
In November 2025 alone, the airport served 1,773,511 passengers, maintaining a favorable year-over-year trend. Of that total, 72% were transit passengers, equivalent to 1,274,785 people, reinforcing Tocumen’s role as a key hub between North America, South America, the Caribbean, and Europe.
Dynamics of Passenger Arrivals and Departures in Panama
The flow of passengers entering the country also showed an upward trend. Between January and November, 2,566,250 disembarked passengers were recorded, a figure reflecting 5% growth, or 121,478 additional passengers compared to the previous year.
Regarding departures, the cumulative total reached 2,646,150 embarked passengers, with a 3% increase, equivalent to 70,299 more travelers than in 2024. These results highlight the airport’s direct impact on tourism, corporate travel, and Panama’s international connectivity.
High Demand and Steady Weekly Flow
During November, Tocumen International Airport recorded an average of approximately 59,117 daily passenger movements. The highest volumes were concentrated on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays, demonstrating sustained demand throughout the week and the importance of maintaining high operational and service standards.
Increase in Air Operations
Between January and November 2025, 151,335 aircraft movements were managed, representing a 9% growth compared to the same period the previous year, with 11,998 additional operations.
Of the total recorded:
- 89% corresponded to commercial flights
- 7% to cargo operations
- 4% to general aviation, technical stops, charter flights, military, and other special services
Connectivity: An Expanding Air Network
Connectivity remains one of Tocumen’s main pillars. In November, 14 commercial passenger airlines and 20 cargo companies operated at the terminal. During that month, it connected with 87 destinations, while the cumulative network from January to November 2025 reached 93 destinations, linking Panama with over 30 countries.
Main Origin and Destination Markets
In terms of traffic, Bogota remained one of the most relevant markets, with 983,343 passengers, followed by:
- San Jose, with 847,810
- Miami, with 810,314
- Medellin, with 789,820
- Punta Cana, with 734,022 travelers
These figures reflect the diversity and strength of the route network operating from Tocumen.
Positive Results in Air Cargo
The logistics segment also showed favorable performance. Between January and November 2025, the airport mobilized 225,666 metric tons of cargo, representing 4% growth compared to the same period the previous year, equivalent to 9,013 additional metric tons. This performance consolidates Tocumen as a key point for logistics and international trade in the region.

The General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, Jose Ruiz Blanco, emphasized that the achieved results confirm the terminal’s strategic relevance for Panama and Latin America. He stated that the 2025 figures reflect the ongoing commitment to connectivity, operational efficiency, and the development of tourism and trade, as well as the continuous work to provide modern, safe, and competitive infrastructure.
With these results, Tocumen International Airport reaffirms its mission to drive the country’s economic growth, facilitate commercial and tourist exchange, and serve as a natural bridge between continents. Its performance during 2025 reinforces Panama’s positioning as one of the most relevant players on the global air map.
