TAP Air achieved an unprecedented milestone in its transatlantic operations by transporting 2,066,000 passengers on routes connecting Portugal and Brazil as of Wednesday, December 17. This figure represents a historic record for the company and solidifies its position as one of the main air links between the two continents.

A New High that Strengthens Transatlantic Connectivity

The volume of travelers recorded surpasses the previous result achieved earlier in 2024, confirming the airline’s sustained growth in this key market. This achievement reinforces TAP’s strategic role in transatlantic connectivity and underscores the importance of air traffic between Portugal and Brazil.

Manaus, Setting for the Record Celebration

The symbolic moment of the record was celebrated in Manaus, with the arrival of flight TP51 from Lisbon. The choice of this city was no coincidence. On November 4, the capital of the state of Amazonas had commemorated the first anniversary of the Lisbon-Manaus route, a connection that has become a key point for expanding TAP’s presence in northern Brazil.

To mark the arrival of the passenger who represented this record, TAP organized a special reception at Manaus Airport, in collaboration with Amazonastur and Vinci Airport. The event included speeches and tributes highlighting the significance of this route within the airline’s network. Furthermore, TAP’s Miles&Go program awarded the traveler 150,000 bonus miles in recognition of being part of this historic moment.

TAP’s Vision on the Brazilian Market

Carlos Antunes, Director of TAP for the Americas, emphasized the relevance of this achievement and the weight of the Brazilian market in the company’s strategy. He explained that the record reached on the Europe-Brazil route reflects passengers’ trust in TAP and Brazil’s strategic importance. He also highlighted the symbolic value of celebrating this milestone in Manaus, as the Lisbon-Manaus connection reinforces the airline’s commitment to linking northern Brazil with Europe.

With this new record, TAP Air Portugal strengthens its position as a key player in air links between Europe and Brazil, relying on strategic routes and sustained demand that continues to reach historic highs.
