Etihad Airways closed 2025 with the best commercial results in its history, combining passenger growth, high load factors, and an unprecedented fleet expansion, all underpinned by a strategy of disciplined growth. The figures confirm the definitive recovery following the most challenging years for the industry and the airline’s positioning as a central player in Gulf aviation.
22.4 Million Passengers: The Highest Annual Volume in Its History
During 2025, Etihad carried 22.4 million passengers, representing a year-on-year increase of 21% and the highest annual record ever achieved by the company. This growth was supported by sustained demand and careful capacity management within an expanding international network.
The annual load factor reached 88.3%, two percentage points above 2024. In a context of accelerated growth, this level of utilization reflects solid commercial execution and a correct alignment between supply and demand, a key aspect for profitability in highly competitive markets.
Record December and Year-End Peaks
The last month of the year confirmed the positive trend. In December, Etihad carried 2.2 million passengers, 28% more than in December 2024, with a load factor of 87.6%. The performance in the month of highest demand in the aviation calendar shows operational and commercial consistency that goes beyond isolated peaks.

Largest Fleet Expansion in Etihad’s History
One of the most significant milestones of 2025 was the growth of the fleet. By year-end, Etihad was operating 127 aircraft, having added 29 planes in a single fiscal year—the largest annual expansion since its founding.
Among these additions, the entry into service of the Airbus A321LR stands out—a strategic model that allows Etihad to extend its premium product to short- and medium-haul routes. This decision enhances product consistency across the network and enables access to new markets with lower risk of overcapacity, a clear sign of maturity in fleet planning.
Expanding Network
Etihad’s destination network reached 110 destinations, compared to 94 the previous year, representing 16 new markets in just twelve months. According to projected air traffic data for the country, Etihad was responsible for approximately 50% of the total passenger growth in the United Arab Emirates during 2025.
This data underscores the airline’s structural role in the tourism and economic development of Abu Dhabi, acting as one of the main levers for the emirate’s international connectivity.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, summarized the fiscal year as one of solid execution and customer confidence. He highlighted not only the passenger record but also the continuous improvement in service, product, and customer satisfaction.
Neves emphasized that operating the largest fleet in Etihad’s history places the airline in an optimal position to attract more visitors to Abu Dhabi and offer high-level travel experiences across a network that continues to grow. Looking ahead to 2026, he reiterated the commitment to safety, customer service, and sustainable growth, aligned with the communities the company serves.
