Air Europa and Plus Ultra Announce Resumption of Flights to Venezuela

After several months of total interruption, direct air connectivity between Spain and Venezuela is beginning to be restored. Air Europa and Plus Ultra have confirmed the resumption of their flights, marking a turning point for a route that is strategically and commercially vital for both markets.

Air Europa Returns to Madrid-Caracas with a Gradual Reactivation

Air Europa will restart operations between Madrid and Caracas starting February 17, though the rollout will be staggered. According to the airline’s official communication, the first scheduled flights will take place on February 17, 20, and 22.

The company explicitly clarified that flights previously scheduled for February 19 and 21 remain canceled.

Plus Ultra Confirms Return for March 3

For its part, Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas announced it will resume flights to Venezuela starting March 3. Initially, it will operate two direct weekly frequencies—on Tuesdays and Thursdays—between Madrid and Caracas.

However, the airline’s plan includes a short-term reinforcement. Starting March 28, the following will be added:

Iberia Maintains Return Date for April

In contrast, Iberia is sticking to its original planning for now, with a scheduled return date of April 6. The airline has not announced any changes or early restarts, suggesting a more conservative assessment of the current operational and regulatory landscape.

Context: Total Suspension Due to Aviation Safety Concerns

In late November 2025, all airlines operating between Spain and Venezuela suspended their direct flights.

The decision followed recommendations from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European agencies, which advised against overflying Venezuelan airspace due to safety risks. As a direct consequence, Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) temporarily revoked the flight licenses of these carriers.

The resumption of flights by Air Europa, Plus Ultra, and Iberia marks a decisive step toward the normalization of the Spain–Venezuela route.
