Air Europa closed 2025 with significant progress in its commercial alliance strategy, a move that pushes the number of routes available to its customers above 400 and reinforces its competitive positioning in international traffic. This growth is supported by the signing of new agreements, the reactivation of key partnerships, and a sustained expansion of codesharing, with a particularly visible impact on its long-haul operations.

Beyond the figures, the data confirms a clear roadmap: maximizing connectivity from the Madrid-Barajas hub, strengthening the Europe–Latin America flow, and gaining relevance in strategic corridors toward Asia.

Alliances That Multiply the Network Without Adding Aircraft

During the last fiscal year, Air Europa added four new interline and cooperation agreements while reactivating its alliance with Avianca, a key partner for accessing Latin American markets. New agreements with Hainan Airlines, SAS, and Smartwings were added to these initiatives, immediately expanding the Spanish airline’s reach without the need to increase its fleet.

Through SAS and Smartwings, the company has bolstered its presence in Northern and Central Europe, relying especially on operations from Copenhagen and Prague. This expansion improves the feed for its long-haul network and strengthens Madrid’s competitiveness as a connection point compared to other European hubs.

Asia on the Radar: Eleven Chinese Airlines in the Network

One of the most relevant moves of the year has been the agreement with Hainan Airlines, which brings the number of Chinese airlines with which Air Europa maintains some form of cooperation to eleven.

This figure is significant. It aligns with China’s strategy to establish a preferential corridor between Asia and the Americas, where Air Europa acts as a natural partner thanks to its extensive network of destinations in Latin America. Madrid-Barajas is thus consolidating its position as an alternative and increasingly attractive link compared to traditional hubs in Northern Europe.

Nearly 100 Agreements and 168 Codeshare Routes

In structural terms, the airline currently has nearly a hundred agreements with other companies, resulting in 168 routes operated under codeshare. Approximately half of these routes are linked to the American continent, reinforcing the historical core of Air Europa’s business.

This model not only broadens the commercial offering but also increases the volume of feeder passengers for its own flights—a key factor in improving occupancy rates on long-haul routes.

Putting the Passenger First: Frictionless Connectivity

From the customer’s perspective, codeshare agreements provide specific operational advantages. These include:

  • Baggage check-through to the final destination, eliminating intermediate procedures.
  • Access to VIP lounges for Business passengers during connections.
  • A smoother and more consistent travel experience between partner airlines.

As part of its strategy to enhance the passenger experience, Air Europa is working with its partners so that customers can obtain their boarding pass to their final destination directly from the airline’s website. This operational detail reduces friction and improves brand perception during complex journeys.
