EGYPTAIR Receives Its First Airbus A350-900
EGYPTAIR has taken a structural step in its fleet modernization and intercontinental ambitions by receiving the first of its 16 ordered Airbus A350-900s, becoming the launch operator for this model in North Africa. The A350-900 is positioned as a centerpiece in the renewal of EGYPTAIR’s long-haul fleet and the expansion of its international network, focusing on high-density and long-range markets.
A Key Aircraft for Intercontinental Expansion
EGYPTAIR will utilize the A350-900 to enable new non-stop routes from its Cairo hub to strategic destinations such as the West Coast of the United States and North Asia. This data is particularly relevant from an operational standpoint: both markets require aircraft with significant range, fuel efficiency, and high comfort standards—a profile that the A350 meets with ease.
With a range of up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers), the A350-900 allows the airline to cover these routes directly. This reduces dependence on technical stops and improves the commercial value proposition against regional and Gulf competitors.
Cabin Configuration and Onboard Experience
The aircraft features a two-class configuration, consisting of:
- 30 Business Class suites, all with direct aisle access.
- 310 Economy Class seats.
The cabin incorporates the latest generation of the Airbus Airspace concept, designed to enhance the experience on ultra-long-haul flights for both passengers and crew through better ergonomics, an increased sense of space, and superior comfort levels.

Operational Efficiency and Environmental Advantage
From a technical perspective, the Airbus A350-900 is presented as the most modern wide-body aircraft currently in service, incorporating:
- Latest-generation Rolls-Royce engines.
- Advanced lightweight materials.
- Optimized aerodynamics.
This combination translates into a 25% advantage in fuel consumption, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions compared to comparable previous-generation aircraft.
Ready for Sustainable Fuels
In line with Airbus’s strategy, EGYPTAIR’s A350-900 is already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The manufacturer maintains the goal for all its aircraft to be capable of flying with 100% SAF by 2030.
Integration Within EGYPTAIR’s Current Fleet
With this addition, EGYPTAIR strengthens an already significant Airbus fleet, currently composed of:
- 8 A320neo.
- 7 A321neo.
- 11 A330 family aircraft, including 5 A330-200P2F dedicated freighters.
The arrival of the first A350-900 not only redefines EGYPTAIR’s international projection but also raises the technological standard for long-haul travel in North Africa.
