Aeromexico has officially restarted its operations at Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, operating four weekly frequencies from Mexico City.
Return of the “Eagle Knight” to Quito with the Boeing 737 MAX
The Mexican flag carrier resumed service between Mexico City International Airport (AICM) and the Ecuadorian capital with the arrival on Monday afternoon of one of its most efficient aircraft: the Boeing 737 MAX 8. This model, renowned for its cutting-edge technology and reduced environmental footprint, will be responsible for covering the route on a regular basis.
The return flight to Mexican territory departed this Tuesday at 10:30 local time, following an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Quito terminal. The event was attended by key industry executives, including Ramón Miró, President and CEO of Quiport, and Pepe Zapata, Aeromexico’s Vice President of Sales for North America and Latin America.
Flight Schedule
The operation will be conducted under the following schedule and frequencies:
| Route | Frequencies | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mexico City – Quito | Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun | 13:20 | 19:05 |
| Quito – Mexico City | Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat | 10:30 | 14:10 |
Strategic Connectivity and Regional Expansion
The restoration of this direct flight is vital for Mariscal Sucre International Airport, as it serves one of the highest-demand routes in the region. Beyond the non-stop service to Mexico City, Ecuadorian passengers regain access to a massive connection network through Aeromexico’s hub.
Available Destinations via Connection:
- Domestic Network (Mexico): Monterrey, Guadalajara, Cancun, Merida, Queretaro, Huatulco, and Oaxaca.
- North America: Montreal and Toronto.
- Europe: Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Paris, and Rome.
- Asia: Tokyo (Narita) and Seoul (Incheon).
With this reinstatement, Aeromexico consolidates its presence in South America, where it now operates eight year-round routes and one seasonal service. This allows regional travelers to connect with more than 40 destinations in Mexico, 25 in the United States, and multiple points across the European and Asian continents.
