The Colombian air transport industry has kicked off 2026 with a robust upward trend, mobilizing 10.03 million passengers between January and February. According to figures from the Analytics Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Colombia (Aerocivil), this volume represents an 8.1% growth compared to the same period last year, consolidating the expansion of connectivity across the country.
Sustained Growth in Passenger Traffic
Provisional data from Aerocivil reflects a particular dynamism during the second month of the year. In February alone, traffic reached 4.53 million travelers, marking an increase of 377,000 people (up 9.1%) compared to February 2025.
Domestic Market: Regional Momentum
Accumulated internal demand in the first two months reached 5.67 million passengers, recording an 8.1% increase. This performance was driven by the strong results of key destinations within the national network:
- San Andrés
- Cali
- Pereira
- Armenia
International Market: Outstanding Performance
The international segment showed notable acceleration, especially in February, with 1.99 million passengers and a 12.6% rebound. In the consolidated figures for the first two months, international traffic totaled 4.36 million travelers, a positive variation of 8.0%.
Logistics and Cargo: The Flower Industry as a Driver
Air freight also maintained a favorable dynamic. During February 2026, 80.8 thousand tons were moved, equivalent to a 7.5% growth compared to the previous year.
- International Cargo: Recorded 69.7 thousand tons in February (+8.5%), with a bimonthly total of 139.0 thousand tons.
- Domestic Cargo: The domestic market reported stability with 21.7 thousand tons accumulated and a slight growth of 1.5%.
- Key Factor: The increase in Colombian exports, particularly from the floriculture sector, has been the primary catalyst for these cargo volumes.
Aerocivil highlights that these results reflect user confidence and the stability of the national air transport system. Projections for the remainder of the year point toward maintaining favorable figures in both markets, following the sustained growth trajectory that has characterized the sector in recent months.
