The Dominican ultra-low-cost carrier, Arajet, has requested an amendment to its Economic Authorization Certificate before the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) to incorporate new international routes. This strategic expansion aims to strengthen connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, while further consolidating its footprint across Central America and the Caribbean.
Inroads into Venezuela
A cornerstone of this petition is the establishment of direct connections to three of Venezuela’s primary cities. These operations are slated to run from both Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).

Punta Cana as a New Regional Expansion Hub
In addition to its offensive in the Venezuelan market, the airline plans to diversify its offerings from Punta Cana toward multiple strategic destinations throughout the Caribbean and Central America:
- Central America: San José, Costa Rica, and Guatemala City.
- The Caribbean: Aruba, Curaçao, Port of Spain, Bridgetown, and Georgetown.
According to the operational plan submitted to the JAC, Arajet intends to launch these services in July 2026.
With this move, Arajet advances its strategy to solidify the Dominican Republic as a major aviation hub for regional connectivity, facilitating passenger transit between the Caribbean, North, Central, and South America.
