Iberia has engineered the largest capacity offensive in its history for the 2026 summer season, surpassing 21 million seats. This deployment, driven by the arrival of new long-haul aircraft, will focus on consolidating its leadership between Europe and the Americas, with double-digit growth in key markets such as the United States and Argentina.
Historic Expansion in North America
The North American region (United States and Canada) is the primary engine of this growth, with a total offer of 1,280,254 seats, representing a 19.02% increase compared to the previous year.
- Canada: The main highlight is the addition of Toronto Pearson (YYZ) as a new destination. Starting June 13, the airline will operate five weekly frequencies from Madrid with an inventory of 34,576 seats.
- New York: The strategy in the “Big Apple” is reinforced with a third daily flight. In addition to the current service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), a daily flight to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) will be added starting March 29, facilitating access to Manhattan’s financial district for corporate travelers.
- Florida: This will be the first full summer for the Orlando route, which was inaugurated in late 2025, featuring three weekly frequencies.
Consolidated Leadership in Latin America
Iberia reaffirms its position as the primary bridge between Latin America and Europe with an offer of 3.35 million seats, up 7.6% from the previous season.
| Destination | Growth / Capacity | Operational Milestone |
|---|---|---|
| Argentina | 456,000 seats (+12%) | Will reach 23 weekly frequencies (more than 3 daily flights) in the June-August quarter. |
| Brazil | +15% in seats | Opening of new routes to Recife and Fortaleza. |
| Mexico | 24 weekly frequencies | Inauguration of the Monterrey route on June 2. |
| Dominican Rep. | +21% in seats | One of the region’s largest percentage increases. |
| Puerto Rico | 10-12 frequencies | Notable increase in weekly connectivity. |
New Features in Europe: Bucharest, Tivat, and Summer Reinforcements
In the domestic and European markets, Iberia will put nearly 16 million seats on sale. The network expands with two brand-new destinations: Bucharest (Romania) and Tivat (Montenegro), both with two weekly frequencies during the peak summer months.
Additionally, the company is reactivating its most popular seasonal routes:
- Greece and Italy: Return of flights to Catania, Palermo, Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini.
- The Balkans: Strong presence in Croatia (Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Split) and expansion of operations in Ljubljana (Slovenia) from June to September.
- Key Reinforcements: Cities like Athens will see up to 29 weekly frequencies in August, while Milan and Nice will also see an increase in their standard seat offerings.
This record growth is part of the company’s “Plan de Vuelo 2030”, supported by a fleet renewal that has recently included the induction of six Airbus A321XLR units and a new Airbus A350-900.
