Porter Airlines is set to become the launch airline at the new Montreal Metropolitan Airport starting June 15, introducing a network of 12 domestic routes that will transform connectivity in the region. This strategic move represents a 91% growth in the company’s seat capacity in the Montreal area, complementing its existing operations at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.
A New Strategic Hub in Saint-Hubert
The development of the new terminal (formerly known as Saint-Hubert Airport) is operated by YHU Infrastructure Partners. Its design focuses on efficiency and passenger comfort, offering an open-concept departure lounge and streamlined processes that significantly reduce wait times for travelers.
Located in Longueuil, on Montreal’s South Shore, the airport provides a more convenient alternative for over 50% of the region’s population, facilitating quick access to the city center and key residential neighborhoods.
Network Deployment and National Connectivity
The airline will begin operations in phases between June 15 and June 22, connecting Montreal with destinations from coast to coast. The schedule includes a mix of year-round and seasonal routes:

Additionally, Porter has strengthened its regional presence through a partnership with Pascan Aviation, based at Montreal Metropolitan Airport. This agreement allows passengers to purchase a single ticket for seamless connections to other regions of Quebec and the Maritimes, including automated baggage transfer.
Fleet and In-Flight Experience
Operations at Montreal Metropolitan will be serviced by two aircraft types:
- De Havilland Dash 8-400: 78-seat capacity.
- Embraer E195-E2: 132-seat capacity.
A key differentiator for Porter is its cabin configuration: there are no middle seats on any of its flights. On the E195-E2 models—of which the airline has inducted 52 units over the last three years—passengers enjoy fast, free Wi-Fi, along with the signature premium service featuring complimentary snacks and beverages served in real glassware.
Economic Impact and Corporate Vision
Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines, highlighted that the development of the Montreal Metropolitan terminal represents an exceptional private investment in transportation infrastructure that will benefit the region for generations. With this expansion, Porter will reach a total of 244 weekly departures from Montreal (138 from Metropolitan and 106 from Trudeau).
This “dual-airport” strategy aims to offer greater flexibility and options to travelers, consolidating Montreal as a central node in Porter’s North American network, which now spans 112 routes across 49 destinations.
