SKY Airline and Air Europa have elevated their strategic relationship by signing a codeshare agreement. This alliance allows for a deep integration of their networks, facilitating seamless travel with a single ticket to multiple regional destinations.
A Strategic Leap from Low-Cost Model
This agreement represents the first codeshare deal the Chilean carrier has finalized since its transition to a low-cost carrier (LCC) model. The initiative deepens an interline relationship that both companies had maintained for two years, transforming it into a more robust commercial integration.
According to Daniel Beláunde, CEO of SKY, this step is a natural evolution that strengthens the company’s role as a key regional partner for global airlines. The objective is to leverage the capillarity of SKY’s network to feed Air Europa’s long-haul flights.
Route Expansion and Connectivity in Southern Cone
Since March 1, passengers have been able to benefit from this collaboration on strategic routes. The initial agreement and its projections include:
- Operational Routes: Connections between Lima and Santiago de Chile operated by SKY.
- Domestic Network in Peru: The codeshare extends to five key destinations from Lima: Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, Trujillo, and Tarapoto.
- Future Expansion: Subject to government approvals, there are plans to incorporate Santiago as a codeshare destination from points such as Salvador de Bahía, São Paulo, Montevideo, and Buenos Aires.

Passenger Benefits
Unlike standard interline agreements, a codeshare offers competitive advantages in the travel experience:
- Unified Management: Ability to check baggage through to the final destination.
- Single Reservation: All connections are managed under a single itinerary and flight code.
- Network Synchronization: More agile and convenient schedules for international travelers.
SKY Airline’s Alliance Horizon
This announcement is part of an aggressive international connectivity strategy. Currently, the airline maintains 11 interline agreements with world-class operators, such as:
- North America: Air Canada and United.
- Europe: Air France and KLM.
- Regional: Aerolíneas Argentinas.
The company’s goal is clear: to continue expanding its partnership network in the short term to exceed 20 agreements in the coming years, consolidating its presence in the global aviation market.
