Turkish Airlines has officially inaugurated flights to London Stansted Airport, marking a strategic milestone in its expansion across Western Europe. With this launch, the carrier adds its sixth destination in the United Kingdom and its third in the London metropolitan area, complementing its existing operations at Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW).
Consolidation in the British Market
The new Stansted route will operate with 15 weekly frequencies, significantly boosting the airline’s capacity within British territory. Following this addition, Turkish Airlines’ UK network comprises:
- London: Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted.
- Regional Cities: Birmingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
By combining these operations with services to Dublin, Ireland, the airline’s total frequency across the British Isles will reach 168 weekly flights during the summer scheduled season.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony at STN, executives from both organizations highlighted the positive impact of this new connection. Fuat Fırat, Turkish Airlines’ Vice President of Sales for Central and Northern Europe, emphasized that the UK remains a key strategic market. According to Fırat, this expansion not only meets regional demand but also drives commercial and tourism activity by offering greater flexibility and access to the carrier’s global network.
Gareth Powell, Managing Director of London Stansted Airport, described the airline’s arrival as a “vote of confidence” in the region. Powell noted that the service allows passengers and businesses in the catchment area to connect to more than 350 destinations across Asia, Africa, and Australia via the airline’s primary hub in Istanbul.
