United Airlines Launches “Relax Row”: Economy Seats That Transform Into Couches for Long-Haul Flights

United Airlines has announced the launch of United Relax Row, a new seating configuration in the United Economy cabin that allows a row of three seats to be transformed into a multi-purpose couch. This initiative makes United the first airline in North America to offer this type of product, maintaining regional exclusivity of the design to enhance the passenger experience on long-haul international flights.

Innovation and Design: The “Couch” Concept in the Air

The new United Relax Row consists of a dedicated row of three seats equipped with individually adjustable footrests. These components deploy at a 90-degree angle, creating a continuous flat surface that offers passengers more space to sleep, stretch out, or enjoy inflight entertainment with increased comfort.

This product has been strategically designed for various traveler profiles:

The location of these sections will be situated between the United Economy and United Premium Plus cabins, with up to 12 Relax Row sections available per aircraft, ensuring a competitive offering in the long-haul market.

“As a leading premium airline, we are committed to offering new industry-leading experiences for all our customers,” said Andrew Nocella, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of United Airlines. “Customers traveling in United Economy on long-haul flights deserve an option for more space and comfort.”
