United Airlines Launches Sales for First Boeing 787-9 Featuring “Elevated” Interior

United Airlines commenced ticket sales this Thursday for its most premium aircraft to date: the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner equipped with the new United Elevated interior. This aircraft, which features a complete reconfiguration, is set to debut on international routes next month, setting a new benchmark for luxury and technology within the industry.

A Strategic Push for the Premium Segment

The new Boeing 787-9 configuration stands out with 99 premium seats, representing the highest percentage of premium cabin space among all U.S. carriers. This strategy aims to differentiate the customer experience at every stage of the journey, offering significant upgrades across all cabins.

Andrew Nocella, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at United, stated: “The new era of premium air travel is arriving soon, with our first ‘Elevated’ aircraft taking flight next month. Our new aircraft redefines long-haul international flights, providing travelers with enhanced amenities and experiences in every cabin.”

United Polaris Studio: Debuting a New Category

The most significant innovation of this interior is the introduction of the United Polaris Studio suites. This category consists of eight all-aisle-access seats that are 25% larger than standard United Polaris seats.

Enhanced Experience Across All Classes

The “Elevated” redesign is not limited to business class; United has implemented technological and comfort upgrades throughout the entire aircraft:

United Polaris and United Premium Plus

In addition to the Studio suites, the aircraft features 56 conventional United Polaris® seats, equipped with 19-inch 4K OLED touchscreens and access to the exclusive walk-up snack bar.

Meanwhile, the United Premium Plus cabin offers 35 seats with increased legroom, privacy dividers (a first for this product at United), 16-inch screens, and wireless charging. All premium cabins include Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and new amenity kits featuring skincare products by Perricone MD.

United Economy and Economy Plus

The Economy Plus (39 seats) and United Economy (84 seats) sections also receive critical updates:

Route Schedule and Fleet Expansion

The inaugural international flight for customers is scheduled for April 22, operating between San Francisco and Singapore under flight number UA1. Subsequently, on April 30, the route between San Francisco and London will be added.

Prior to its international deployment, the airline will operate the aircraft on selected domestic routes between San Francisco and Houston as part of the operational preparation phase. United Airlines has ambitious plans for this product, projecting at least 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the “Elevated” interior operating globally by the end of 2027.
