Air China Announces New Direct Route Between Beijing and Venice for Summer
Air China has announced the launch of a new direct service between Beijing Capital International Airport and Venice for the 2026 summer season.
Operational Details of the New Venice Service
The new connection is scheduled to begin operations on July 2, 2026. Air China will operate this route with a frequency of four weekly flights, utilizing Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft.
With this move, the carrier will position itself as the sole operator on the Beijing-Venice route. Furthermore, it becomes the second Chinese airline to serve Venice, joining China Eastern Airlines, which connects the Italian city with Shanghai Pudong five times per week.
Strategic Expansion in the European Market
The addition of Venice is not an isolated event; it is part of an ambitious growth strategy for Air China in Europe for the year 2026. The airline plans to reach a network of 22 European destinations through 42 non-stop routes during the summer period.
Within this seasonal schedule, other notable services include:
- Brussels: Connections from Beijing Capital and Chengdu.
- Frankfurt: A new route from Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX).
- London Gatwick: Service from Chengdu.
- Milan Malpensa: Operations from Beijing Daxing.
Historical Growth in Air Capacity
Air China’s commercial offensive will result in a massive increase in seat capacity between Europe and mainland China. According to registered flight plans, two-way capacity will reach 4.53 million seats in the summer of 2026.
This figure represents a significant leap compared to the 3.63 million projected for the summer of 2025. More importantly, the offering will far exceed the 2.86 million seats available in 2019, prior to the global health crisis and the onset of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, demonstrating the airline’s robust recovery and expansion in the international market.
