As part of its international expansion strategy, Aeromexico announced this Monday its intention to resume operations to Caracas, Venezuela, aiming to continue connecting Mexico with the world. The restart of this route, projected for October 2026, remains subject to government approval and will significantly expand travel options to the southern region of the continent.
Direct Connectivity with a Next-Generation Fleet
The planned route will directly connect Mexico City with Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía. To operate these flights, the airline will deploy Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which are among the most modern and efficient equipment in its global fleet.

Consolidation of the South American Route Network
With the addition of Caracas, the Mexican carrier will operate a total of 10 routes within the South American region. This new destination will complement the company’s current connectivity network, which already serves South American nations such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
Regarding this milestone, Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeromexico, highlighted the importance of this announcement for the company’s long-term strategy:
“At Aeromexico, we continue to explore opportunities to strengthen our international network. The intention to resume the Caracas route represents a major milestone in expanding Mexico’s connectivity network with South America, addressing market demand, and reaffirming our commitment to offering more and better travel options.”
Next Steps and Regulatory Status
Currently, the project to operate the Mexico City – Caracas route is in the evaluation and approval phase by the relevant government authorities.
Because the launch of these flights is conditional upon securing the necessary regulatory permits, Aeromexico will release final details regarding schedules, frequencies, and ticket availability once official authorizations are successfully granted.
