Arajet has announced the resumption of its non-stop service between Punta Cana and Guayaquil, a strategic move aimed at strengthening air connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Ecuador. The decision not only restores a direct link between the two cities but also significantly expands international onward travel options for Ecuadorian passengers looking to connect to North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean, via the carrier’s Caribbean hub.
Operational Details and Route Frequencies
The resumption of flight operations is scheduled for October 5, 2026. The airline will operate a twice-weekly service, scheduled to optimize traffic flows for both corporate and leisure travelers:
- Flights from Punta Cana: Operating on Mondays and Fridays.
- Flights from Guayaquil: Return flights available on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
With this schedule, Arajet aims to consolidate its international network from Punta Cana International Airport, reaffirming its business model focused on competitive fares and an efficient travel experience.

Connection Network: Destinations and Routing
Reactivating this sector allows travelers departing from Guayaquil’s Jose Joaquin de Olmedo International Airport to connect via Punta Cana to multiple key destinations within the airline’s global network. Onward connectivity is structured based on directional availability:
Two-way connections
- Cancun
- Miami
- Orlando-Sanford
One-way connections
- Kingston
- Aruba
- San Juan
- Buenos Aires
“At Arajet, we remain focused on strengthening connectivity across the continent and offering more accessible travel options for our passengers. The return to Guayaquil represents a significant step forward in our regional expansion and reaffirms our commitment to the Ecuadorian market,” said Victor Pacheco Mendez, CEO and founder of Arajet.
Commercial Strategy: Launch and Promotion
To stimulate initial demand for the route, the low-cost carrier has introduced the “Nueva Ruta GYE” (New GYE Route) promotional campaign. This commercial initiative offers passengers up to a 30% discount on the base fare by using the promo code VUELVEGYE.
The terms and conditions of the promotion are structured around the following parameters:
- Applicable Fare Classes: Basic, Classic, Comfort, and Extra.
- Booking Window: Valid for tickets purchased through May 24, 2026.
- Travel Window: Valid for travel between October 5, 2026, and October 31, 2027, subject to availability.
- Eligible Markets: Guayaquil, Punta Cana, Miami, Orlando-Sanford, San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Cancun.
Arajet’s return to Guayaquil marks a major milestone in its regional expansion strategy for the latter half of 2026. By channeling traffic through Punta Cana, the airline is not only competing in the leisure market but is also positioning itself as a high-connectivity, low-cost alternative for traffic flows moving between South America and major urban and tourism nodes in the United States and the Caribbean.
