The design of German carrier Lufthansa’s Allegris First Class Suite, co-developed by the airline and renowned design agency PriestmannGoode, has been honored with the 2026 Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. This accolade is presented to products across 52 different categories that demonstrate outstanding design quality, innovation, functionality, and ergonomics.
The First Class offering redefines premium travel through two individual suites and the so-called Suite Plus. These separate cabins feature floor-to-ceiling walls and fully enclosable doors, providing a level of privacy equivalent to one’s own home.
The comfort and technological features of these nearly one-meter-wide suites include:
- Personalized seat climate control.
- Connectivity to pair personal smartphones or tablets with the in-flight entertainment system.
- A 32-inch monitor.
- Wireless over-ear headphones.
- An integrated personal wardrobe.

Suite Plus: A Unique Space Above the Clouds
For travelers demanding maximum space, Lufthansa offers the Suite Plus—a globally unique option designed both for solo passengers seeking total privacy and for couples wishing to enjoy their flight together. This special cabin allows its two seats to be transformed into a comfortable double bed and features an entertainment screen the size of a living room display, consolidating its position as one of the most exclusive experiences in commercial aviation.
A Track Record of Success and International Recognition
The overall Allegris cabin concept has maintained an upward trajectory since its market introduction in 2024. According to Caroline Drischel, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at the Lufthansa Group, the primary objective was to set a high benchmark that fused design with individualized comfort.
Drischel highlighted that this latest award, combined with the more than two million satisfied passengers who have already experienced the benefits of Allegris, validates the project’s success. Previously, the Allegris Business Class had already garnered major international accolades:
- 2024: Winner of the German Design Award.
- 2025: Honored with the German Innovation Award, the International Design Award, and the Business Traveller Award for Best European Business Class.
Allegris Fleet Expansion Plan Heading into Year-End 2026
The Allegris experience is currently available on scheduled routes operated by two widebody aircraft types: the Munich-based Airbus A350-900 and the Boeing 787-9 operating out of Frankfurt. The fleet under this concept maintains steady growth, currently counting ten A350-900 units and twelve Boeing 787-9s in active revenue service.
The rollout of this cabin concept will continue to expand over the coming months. By autumn 2026, the new Airbus A350-1000 will join as the next model to incorporate these cabins, while the introduction of the new Boeing 777-9 is scheduled to begin flying with this award-winning configuration starting in the spring of next year. Under this modernization strategy, Lufthansa projects a total of 35 aircraft equipped with the Allegris concept by the end of 2026.
