Singapore Airlines has announced the implementation of Starlink’s high-speed broadband service across its long-haul fleet. Starting in 2027, the airline will offer a multi-gigabit browsing experience that redefines connectivity and productivity standards for its passengers.
Low Earth Orbit Connectivity for the Long-Haul Fleet
Singapore’s flag carrier will progressively introduce Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based service on its most iconic aircraft. The technological upgrade will initially focus on the Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A380 models.
Implementation is expected to begin during the first quarter of 2027, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the company’s in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) offerings.
Starlink Technology: Unprecedented Speed and Capacity
Starlink, which operates a constellation of over 10,000 satellites launched into Low Earth Orbit, will provide a connection significantly superior to traditional geostationary satellite systems. Key technical highlights include:
- Aero Terminal: Aircraft will be equipped with terminals capable of supporting up to 1 Gbps per antenna.
- Multi-gigabit Connectivity: This capacity ensures minimal latency and greater stability during all phases of flight.
- Seamless Experience: Passengers will be able to enjoy uninterrupted service from takeoff to landing.

This infrastructure will enable customers to engage in high-bandwidth activities that were previously limited in-flight, such as video streaming, intensive social media use, online gaming sessions, and transferring large files.
Democratization of Free Wi-Fi and Benefits by Cabin Class
Singapore Airlines will maintain its policy of unlimited free Wi-Fi for a broad segment of its customer base on aircraft equipped with this new technology. Beneficiaries of the complimentary service include:
- Passengers traveling in Suites, First Class, and Business Class cabins.
- PPS Club members.
- KrisFlyer members traveling in Premium Economy and Economy Class.
According to Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines, the carrier already offers one of the most comprehensive free connectivity services in the industry. However, the partnership with Starlink will elevate this standard, allowing travelers to stay connected and productive with much greater fluidity.
Singapore Airlines’ choice of Starlink reinforces its commitment to innovation and excellence in the customer experience.
