Wingo is gearing up for one of the highest-demand periods of the year with a robust expansion of its network connectivity. Between June and July 2026, the low-cost carrier projects transporting more than 703,000 passengers across its domestic and international routes, representing an approximate 15% increase compared to the 2025 mid-year high season.
Traffic Projections and Market Consolidation
The airline’s capacity strategy for this vacation period is strategically distributed between the Colombian domestic market and its international network:
- Domestic Market: More than 492,000 passengers are anticipated to travel across its 16 domestic routes.
- International Market: Over 211,000 travelers will fly on the 27 international city pairs operated by the company.
According to Jorge Jimenez, Wingo’s Commercial and Planning Vice President, the airline enters this high season with a point-to-point, reliable low-cost value proposition, complemented by a network of unique routes not directly served by other carriers.
High-Density Routes for Peak Season
Within its existing network, the LCC forecasts that the highest traffic volume will be concentrated on key corporate and leisure corridors:
- Domestic Connectivity: Main passenger flows will be recorded on the Bogota–Medellin, Bogota–Cali, and Bogota–Cartagena trunk routes.
- International Connectivity: The destinations with the highest projected demand combine sun-and-beach markets with strong regional connectivity, highlighted by Bogota–Punta Cana, Bogota–Caracas, and Aruba–Medellin.

Network Expansion: Five New International and Regional Routes
The core element of the mid-2026 operation is the launch of five new routes that will diversify direct flight options within Colombia and the wider region.
Strategic Growth in Bucaramanga and Medellin
Bucaramanga is consolidating its position as a key point within the Wingo network. Starting June 17, the airline will launch the seasonal Bucaramanga–Aruba route, operating a twice-weekly frequency on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This international connection complements the direct domestic network toward Medellin, Cartagena, and Barranquilla that the airline activated in March 2026, which operates three times a week each.
Meanwhile, Medellin will expand its international offering from Jose Maria Cordova International Airport with two new destinations, both operating three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays:
- Medellin–Montego Bay: Launching June 23, making Wingo the sole operator connecting the Antioquia department directly with Jamaica.
- Medellin–Guatemala City: Commencing operations on June 25.
Strengthening the Caribbean and Regional Reactivation
The Colombian Caribbean region will gain a new international option starting July 9 with the inauguration of the Barranquilla–Aruba route. This service will operate twice-weekly, scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays.
Finally, Wingo will open its route between Bogota and Valencia, Venezuela, on July 14. The connection will feature three weekly frequencies operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Wingo’s operational deployment for the 2026 mid-year high season not only aims to absorb the seasonal surge in tourism and leisure travel but also to consolidate the airline’s presence in the regional low-cost market.
