Air Transat has officially launched its direct operations between Toronto and Tirana, establishing the first-ever air link between Canada and Albania. This exclusive route aims to capitalize on the growing demand for connectivity to the Western Balkans during the 2026 summer season.
A Strategic Milestone for the Transatlantic Market
The inaugural flight of this route took off Thursday night, marking a milestone in the region’s connectivity. Air Transat thus becomes the first and only airline to offer nonstop service between North America and Tirana.
Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat, highlighted the high potential of the Albanian market:
“Albania is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s most attractive destinations, combining excellent affordability with a unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and authentic experiences. This route reinforces our presence in a high-potential region and reflects our focus on developing specific, high-value routes that improve connectivity while strengthening our position across the transatlantic network.”
